Blue A student along on the field trip to observe nearby nebulas. Blue is very curious about black holes, and has an infinite supply of pictures of them.

Purple Purple finds black holes fascinating, and is happy to tell Blue all about them, often getting excited along the way. Her class just finished studying them, and she is on the field trip to see them.

Fred Fred is the nickname for the black hole Blue and Purple are observing. They decided to call it Fred when they forgot its official name. Fred is a small stellar black hole with an accretioin disk.
